Tech Toolbox: Jazz & Heels Skills for Burlesque

Want to work on your long lines, extended limbs, and photo-ready poses? This is the class for you!
In this workshop, Halena Lou will draw on her 20+ years of dance training (including in jazz, ballet, and heels) and her experience dancing in a professional cabaret company to break down key jazz and heels technique for that showpony look and feel in your burlesque acts. This class is designed for burlesque performers who don’t come from a technical dance background, and will demystify technical terms and give you a foundation of technique.
This workshop is open level, and will include: body warm up; centre exercises to build strength & stability and work on lines; take-home tools for your continued practice; and a short combo. Heels optional, though movements are designed to be done in heels.
Classes are open to individuals who are 19 years of age or older.
Class emails will be sent out the week of classes.
Class Cancellation Policy
• Cancellations made 72 hours or more before the scheduled class time are eligible for a full refund.
• Cancellations made less than 72 hours before class are not eligible for a refund.
Studio Accessibility: All classes will take place in our brand new studio on 734 Aldebury, Esquimalt. This studio is located on the 2nd floor, up a set of exterior steps. Sadly, there is no elevator located in the space. There is one single occupancy gender inclusive washroom in the studio.
